Chronicling the tumultuous three-month period in 1965 when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition, SELMA is the story of a movement. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama culminated in President Johnson (Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson) signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay’s acclaimed film tells the real story of how this revered leader and visionary, played by David Oyelowo, prompted change that forever altered history.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Designed and animated by the same Japanese artists who became the core of Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli, THE LAST UNICORN is a bright, colorful tale of love and loss. Weary of being alone in the vast forest, unicorn Amalthea (voiced by Mia Farrow) begins to wonder if she’s the last of her kind. Following a rumor, she joins forces with feeble wizard Schmendrick (Alan Arkin) to look for the mystical Red Bull, a creature known to hunt and imprison unicorns. The film also features the vocal talents of Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, and Angela Lansbury.

Mark Wahlberg stars in this update of the 1974 classic, about a high stakes gambler and literature professor who runs afoul of his loan shark. Jim Bennett is a risk taker. Bennett bets it all when he borrows from a gangster and offers his own life as collateral. He plays both sides, immersing himself in an illicit, underground world while garnering the attention of Frank (John Goodman), a loan shark with a paternal interest in Bennett’s future. As his relationship with a student (Brie Larson) deepens, Bennett must take the ultimate risk for a second chance.
